Even with Neto’s powerful new coupon/discount system, implementing a “Buy 2 get 1 free” style of promotion is difficult. It raises many subtle questions. What happens if the customer orders 4 items? Should they add all the items to their cart or will the coupon do that? Do they have to be the same items or from a category? What if the items are different prices?
Luckily, an easy solution can be borrowed from the major supermarkets. Woolworths and Coles often run these promotions and implement them internally in a much simpler way:
Buy 1, get 1 free ⇒ Buy 2 or more, get 50% off all items
Buy 2, get 1 free ⇒ Buy 3 or more, get 33% off all items
etc…
This is much easier to implement in Neto and implicitly answers all the questions above. Here’s an example of a “Buy 2 get 1 free” promotion. It can easily be extended to also require a coupon code.

Sometimes it might even be clearer to advertise your promotion to customers as “Buy 2 get 50% off!”, especially if they could be confused about how many items to add to their cart.
